2024 Wimbledon Betting Tips

As the lush green lawns of the All England Club prepare to welcome the world’s tennis elite, Wimbledon 2024 promises to deliver two thrilling weeks of grass-court action.

This year's Championships arrive with intriguing storylines on both the men’s and women’s sides.

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner and defending champion Carlos Alcaraz lead the way as a new generation of talent attempts to match the feats of the ‘Big Four’.

But Novak Djokovic believes he can add to his illustrious Wimbledon legacy if his body holds up through seven exacting rounds of action.

Yet again, the women’s field is wide open, continuing the trend of unpredictability that has seen a different champion crowned each year since 2017.

World No. 1 Iga Swiatek seeks to conquer her grass-court challenges, while recent Grand Slam winners Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina, and Coco Gauff will carry strong hopes into the fortnight.

Tip 1: Jannik Sinner to win the Men’s Singles @ 9/5

Alcaraz has the pedigree of a reigning champion and clinched the French Open title only last month, but a worrisome display at Queens Club has left a few doubts about his chances of a repeat victory.

The Spaniard was outplayed and out-fought by Jack Draper in the semi-finals in a defeat that looks likely to push him down to third seed at SW19.

Djokovic will be the second seed and could potentially end up on the opposite side of the draw to both Alcaraz and Sinner.

But the seven-time Wimbledon champion’s form and fitness is questionable because he has not played a competitive match since pulling out of his French Open quarter-final with an injury and subsequently undergoing knee surgery.

Serbia’s ‘Superman’ cannot be totally ruled out but it makes sense to side with a player who is fully fit and on the rise — Sinner.

The Italian has made rapid progress on grass courts over the past couple of years and after reaching his first Grand Slam semi-final at Wimbledon in 2023, he has since gone on to make two more.

The 22-year-old won the Australian Open earlier this year, demonstrating an ability to overcome mid-match difficulties along the way.

And there is no doubt Sinner's heavy-hitting style can be effective on grass, as he showed in winning the Halle event earlier this month.

Tip 2: Elena Rybakina to win the Women’s Singles @ 5/1

Marketa Vondrousova’s shock win last year went against the trend in women’s Grand Slam tennis where eight of the last nine titles have been won by one of Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina and Coco Gauff.

Swiatek, the first female player to win three Grand Slam titles before her 22nd birthday since Maria Sharapova, got her hands on a fifth at Roland Garros earlier this summer.

But her modest record at SW19, where she has yet to get beyond the quarter-finals, counts against her when deliberating who to support this year.

Gauff, the second seed, has not made it past the fourth round in two previous attempts but she is only 20 and her time will surely come.

However, only one player under the age of 23 has held aloft the Venus Rosewater Dish at the end of the women's singles tournament since Sharapova in 2004 so she may be waiting a few years yet.

Sabalenka, the world number three, played at an extremely high level in defending her Australian Open crown earlier this year.

But she lost to Mirra Andreeva in the quarter-finals of the French Open and retired when 5-1 down to Anna Kalinskaya at the same stage of her only grass-court warm-up event.

Rybakina, the Wimbledon champion in 2022, appears to be the best option in the outright betting this year.

No player not named Williams has been able to defend the Wimbledon women’s singles title since Steffi Graf in the 90s, but she does not carry the same weight of expectation this year.

Her withdrawal in Berlin citing abdominal pain will be a concern, but she has overcome similar issues in the past quickly and has been able to prepare for the event without hindrance in the last few days.
