NFL Week Two Betting Tips & Predictions
The NFL season got off to an explosive start last week with some big upsets, blowout wins and Super Bowl contenders already laying down a marker.
As Week 2 rolls around, we pick out the best bets for the weekend’s slate of games.
Tip 1 – New York Jets -3.5 @ 10/11
Aaron Rodgers’ much anticipated return as New York Jets quarterback was a tough one, as his team was beaten 32-19 by the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football.
However, there were positives to be taken from the game, as Rodgers appeared much better than the Jets’ quarterback options last season and considering he was playing after a year out and at 40, he looked sharp as he threw for 167 yards and a touchdown before being taken out in the fourth quarter.
The Jets’ defense was uncharacteristically poor but it must also be remembered that the 49ers were only narrowly beaten by the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl last year and look set to be one of the best teams in the NFC once again.
New York have had their sights lowered significantly in Week 2 as they take on the Tennessee Titans, who lost 24-17 to the rookie Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears in their first game.
Titans quarterback Will Levins threw for just 127 yards and two interceptions and looks unlikely to get much joy out of the Jets secondary, which is one of the best in the league.
Take the Jets to bounce back and secure a comfortable win on the road.
Tip 2 – Under 51.5 points in Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Detroit Lions @ 10/11
The Detroit Lions and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers met in the playoffs last season, with the Lions running out 31-23 winners.
The Buccaneers beat the Washington Commanders 37-20 in their opener but this looks likely to be a much lower-scoring affair.
The Lions gave up just 20 points to a solid Los Angeles Rams team in their first matchup and Dan Campbell’s side kept Tampa Bay to six points when these two teams met in the regular season last year.
Defenses look set to come to the fore and the under is fancied to land.
Tip 3 – Houston Texans -6.5 @ 17/20
Two of the most exciting young quarterbacks in the NFL will face off when the Houston Texans and CJ Stroud take on Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears.
Williams threw just 93 yards for the Bears in their opener, while Stroud looked as impressive as he did last season, with the addition of Joe Mixon also proving a very solid pick up for Houston.
The Texans were 4-1 on the handicap as home favourites last year and are fancied to repeat the trick once again here.
