NFL: Week Six Predictions

It's Week 6 in the NFL and every team now has at least one win this season after the Jacksonville Jaguars opened their account by beating the Indianapolis Colts last week.

Two teams remain unbeaten and that will remain the case for another seven days at least as the 5-0 Kansas City Chiefs and Minnesota Vikings are both having their bye week.

We have seen the first head coaching change of the season already, with the New York Jets firing Robert Saleh on Tuesday.

There are some fascinating fixtures on a Week 6 schedule including the Baltimore Ravens hosting the high-scoring Washington Commanders, the Detroit Lions taking on the Dallas Cowboys and the Jets meeting the Buffalo Bills on Monday under interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich.

Here are our favourite three bets for the Week 6 action.

Tip 1 - Cincinnati Bengals -3 vs New York Giants @ 17/20

The Cincinnati Bengals started the season with hopes of contending for the AFC title after being the only AFC North team to miss the play-offs last year, but they are already in danger of missing the cut again after a 1-4 start.

With three defeats to AFC teams and last week's costly divisional defeat to the Baltimore Ravens already on their record, the Bengals should consider a road win over the New York Giants on Sunday night to be imperative.

The good news for head coach Zac Taylor is that his team's performances have been improving and if they can reproduce the standards they showed in the overtime loss to the Ravens, they are capable of beginning to improve their record this week.

The Bengals will be kicking themselves for throwing away that key AFC North clash, as they led by 10 points with less than six minutes left in regulation.

However, with wide receiver Tee Higgins back in the line-up alongside the sublime Ja'Marr Chase and QB Joe Burrow having put some rusty early performances behind him, the AFC team should fancy their chances.

The Giants have won two of their last three games and impressed against the Seahawks last week, but they have lost a key defensive player for this clash with edge-rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux ruled out by a wrist injury.

Tip 2 - Philadelphia Eagles -9.5 vs Cleveland Browns @ 10/11

To say the Cleveland Browns have not enjoyed playing NFC East teams this season would be an understatement. The Browns have already lost to the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants and Washington Commanders and on Sunday they could complete an unwanted full set of defeats when they visit the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles are heavily favoured despite losing their latest game 33-16 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but that's understandable given the depths the Browns have surprisingly sunk to this season.

Quarterback Deshaun Watson is taking most of the flak but he is by far not the only problem for the Browns, whose offensive line is giving little help to their QB or running backs, while the team have been dogged by basic errors, poor tackling and costly penalties.

The Eagles have had a week off to rest up and should have their top two receivers, AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith, available after they missed the trip to Tampa Bay due to injuries.

The Browns have made a promising start in each of their last three defeats, but their heads have dropped noticeably when the tide has started to turn and they should be opposed in Philly.

Tip 3 - Over 51.5 points in Baltimore Ravens vs Washington Commanders @ 23/25

There has been no shortage of points in the games of the Baltimore Ravens and Washington Commanders this season, so the total looks set to soar when they clash on Sunday.

They are the two highest-scoring teams in the league, with the Commanders averaging 31 points per game and the Ravens 29.4 but they are both in the bottom 12 in the league for points against too, with Washington giving up an average of 23 points per game and Baltimore surprisingly allowing opponents to post 25.2 per outing.

That makes for an explosive match-up when they go head to head and it would be no surprise to see both teams finding the end zone regularly in this one.
