Wincanton Kingwell Hurdle Betting Tips

Wincanton’s Grade 2 Kingwell Hurdle will be run on Saturday afternoon, and the feature race on the card has attracted four competitors, including last year’s Cheltenham Festival winner, Golden Ace.

The feature comes second on a seven-race card and is complemented by some competitive handicaps.

We’ve picked out our best bets for Wincanton on Saturday, including a last-time-out course-winner who looks capable of going in again.

13:03 Wincanton - 2m5½f BetMGM Premier League Darts Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) (4yo+ 0-105)

A talented conditional jockey can be worth their weight in gold in races confined to those who still have a claim, and Freddie Gordon has made a great start to his career so far. He takes the ride on Tea And Chats, who has run with credit on his last two seasonal reappearances and represents a yard arriving in top form. He may outrun his odds.

Selection: Tea And Chats

13:36 Wincanton - 1m7f BetMGM Kingwell Hurdle (Grade 2) (Class 1) (4yo+)

There’s a suspicion that Wincanton is really going to suit Burdett Road, who leads the way on ratings in this contest. He was only nine lengths behind Constitution Hill last time out - registering a career-best in the process - and this is a much easier assignment on the ground he’ll relish more than some of his rivals.

Selection: Burdett Road

14:15 Wincaton - 2m4f No One's As Vegas As BetMGM Handicap Chase (Class 4) (5yo+ 0-110)

Bertie Wooster hinted at a return to form when third at this venue last time out, and he might be the one to side with in a weak contest. His best efforts have come on good ground, so the return to a quicker surface ought to suit, and he’s shaped with promise in each of his three chase outings.

Selection: Bertie Wooster

14:50 Wincaton - 1m7f BetMGM King Of The Golden Oche "National Hunt" Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) (4yo+)

This might prove to be a good opportunity for Star Artist on his hurdle bow. He’s run two nice races in bumpers and should come on plenty for his eye-catching effort at Southwell in December. He will be better suited to conditions than plenty of these, and he looks capable of continuing his yard’s recent good form.

Selection: Star Artist

15:25 Wincanton - 1m7½f BetMGM Who Wants A Nine-Darter Handicap Chase (Class 4) (5yo+ 0-120)

Quick Sharpener was a promising novice hurdler a couple of seasons ago, and he came on from his belated return with a close second at Newcastle last month. He’s still getting to grips with the larger obstacles, but if he jumps a bit slicker than last time in the North East, he ought to go well from just 1lb higher.

Selection: Quick Sharpener

16:00 Wincanton - 3m1f Bet 10 Get 40 With BetMGM Handicap Chase (Class 4) (5yo+ 0-120)

The progressive Pedley Wood bids for a course hat-trick and a 5lb rise for his latest easy success looks on the lenient side. The son of Westerner is versatile with regard to ground, so he won’t mind the return to quicker conditions and he has untapped potential over this distance.

Selection: Pedley Wood

16:35 Wincanton - 3m½f Gamble Responsibly At BetMGM Novices' Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) (4yo+ 0-110)

Harry Derham has been in good form in recent weeks and Copshill Lad has shown plenty of ability since joining his new connections. He probably did too much too soon at Doncaster last time but he could be hard to catch at this venue which has more of an emphasis on speed.

Selection: Copshill Lad
