Cambridgeshire Festival Betting Tips
After the excitement of Ladies Day, we’re now looking ahead to the final day of the Cambridgeshire Festival and the main event itself, which is the Cambridgeshire Handicap. As well as a host of handicaps, there is also the Cheveley Park and the Middle Park Stake, so punters will have a host of top-class racing action to sink their teeth into. As always at Bet UK, our tipster will be on hand to pick out their best bets from across the Newmarket racecard.
Nap of the Day
Perfect Power - 3:00 Newmarket (Middle Park Stakes)
Our Nap of the Day betting tip comes from the highlight race for colts on the final day of the Cambridgeshire Festival. Perfect Power is a two-year-old who is trained by Richard Fahey and he has already proved his worth by winning the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot back in June. He heads to Newmarket following another victory at Deaville in the Darley Prix Morny over the same distance as this race, and given that a straight course seems to suit his running style, we think a run at Rowley Mile shouldn’t prove too much of a challenge for the 7/4 chance.
Dark Horse of the Day
Zain Claudette - 2:25 Newmarket (Cheveley Park Stakes)
In a group one race specifically for fillies, we’ve selected our Dark Horse of the Day betting tip in the form of Zain Claudette. Trained by Ismail Mohammed, who tends to feature his horse on the all-weather, she’s enjoyed an impressive season with wins at York in the Lowther Stakes, Ascot in the Princess Margaret Stakes and on this course back in June. It’ll be a different test on the Rowley Mile. However, she seems to enjoy strong running, and although she did drift left in her last win, we think that still her inexperience showing through so it shouldn’t be an issue here. She is currently priced 5/1 in the betting.
Longshot of the Day
Anmaat - 3:40 Newmarket (Cambridgeshire Handicap)
Our final betting tip from the Cambridgeshire Festival comes in the big race itself. Anmaat is trained by Owen Burrows and is owned by the Shadwell Estate Company, most famous for sprinter Battaash. Victorious in his last outing at Doncaster in a handicap over a longer distance, Anmaat has made easy work of his race since being gelded back in November last year. We think he’ll prefer good to firm ground, which is what is expected tomorrow, and if he can get an opening in the closing stages of the race, we think he’ll push on well. Currently priced 10/1, he’s also a good option for the each-way betting markets.
Newmarket Day Two Betting Tips
We're heading back to Newmarket for the second day of the Cambridgeshire Festival, and it's time for everyone to get dressed up as it's Ladies Day. With the biggest fillies and mares expected to take to the track, our tipster has picked out their leading choices for today.
Nap of the Day
Girl on Film - 3:00 Newmarket
Our Nap of the Day betting tip comes in the form of Ralph Beckett-trained Girl on Film. Making her second career appearance here at Newmarket, she won a fillies stakes on this course back in August. Running well in the early stages of that race, she went on to chase the final furlong before ultimately winning the race by going away from the opposition. Frankie Dettori will be her partner round the Rowley Mile on this occasion, and he will be looking to add to his most recent wins at Woodbine.
Dark Horse of the Day
Glen Esk - 4:40 Newmarket
Our Dark Horse of the Day betting tip features in the penultimate race at Newmarket and comes in the form of Glen Esk. Trained by Chris Wall, this four-year-old has three victories so far to his name this season at Windsor and Haydock, and he will be looking to build on those here on the Rowley Mile. He steps up to a class three here, so he will need to find a little extra if he's to win, but it's not beyond his capabilities.
Longshot of the Day
Sea La Rosa - 2:25 Newmarket
Our Longshot of the Day betting tip comes in the form of Sea La Rosa in the Princess Royal Stakes, which is open exclusively to fillies and mares. Trained by William Haggas, the three-year-old has enjoyed a fruitful season so far with wins at Chepstow, Redcar and Doncaster, as well as two second-place finishes littered between those. The conditions will suit her here as should the distance, so we expect a strong performance.
Newmarket Course Guide
Located in Suffolk, Newmarket is known as the home of UK Horse Racing. With two courses, the Rowley Mile and the July Course premiering some of the biggest flat races in the horse racing calendar, the course itself is relatively straight with only one bend for runners to contend with if they feature in longer races.
What Feature Races Happen at Newmarket
Throughout the season Newmarket is home to many top class races and also features the first classics of the season in the 1000 and 2000 Guineas. It then goes on to host the July Meeting before the Dewhurst Stakes and the Cesarewitch later in the season.
