Will I am Maximus win the 2025 Grand National?

In 2024, I am Maximus rode an absolutely fantastic race for Willie Mullins and Paul Townend. It was just the third time that Townend rode the horse and I am Maximus has finished in the top two every single time. However, it has to be said that after Galopin Des Champs beat the horse in back to back races, the first by 31 lengths and the second by 17 lengths just months before the Grand National, I am Maximus wasn't an overwhelming favourite to win the race.

The 32-horse race featured brilliant names such as Delta Work, Minella Indo, Corach Rambler and more! However, there were also some horses that are less well-known but equally as good, such as Kitty's Light, Meetingofthewaters and Limerick Lace. Townend kept I am Maximus in the midfield for the majority of the race before pushing after the last, switching to the opposite side of the track and comfortably rode into the lead in the final furlongs for an excellent victory.

After entering last years race at odds of 7/1 - where he was the joint favourite with Limerick Lace, I am Maximus sits at 12/1 in the Ante Post betting odds at the time of writing. When we move closer to the event, these prices will change, positive results for the horse will see the odds move closer to the evens mark while some bad defeats would see the odds increase closer to the other competitors in the race.
