Brazilian Grand Prix Tips
The next chapter of the 2024 Drivers’ Championship will be written on Sunday as the F1 circus heads to Sao Paulo for the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Frontrunner Max Verstappen had a race to forget at the Mexico Grand Prix last week as he was hit with two 10-second penalties in a tussle with title rival Lando Norris.
Finishing down in sixth place while Norris finished second in Mexico City, Verstappen saw his lead in the Drivers’ Championship cut down to 47 points with four races of the season remaining.
All eyes will be on Interlagos this weekend with more twists and turns expected in the battle between Verstappen and Norris for the world title.
Tip 1 - Lando Norris to win @ 7/4
Having to overcome a frantic battle with Verstappen, Norris managed to maintain his focus to finish runner-up behind Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz at the Mexico Grand Prix last time out.
It was the second consecutive race Norris has missed out on the chequered flag, but the Brit looks capable of returning to the top of the podium this weekend at Interlagos.
Norris managed to claim second place at the Brazilian Grand Prix last season and he and his McLaren have shown significant signs of progress since that last race in Sao Paulo.
While the Ferraris of Sainz and Charles Leclerc look to be finishing the season strongly, Norris looks capable of going one better than his last race at Interlagos and claiming what would be a fourth race win of the 2024 campaign.
Tip 2 - Max Verstappen podium finish @ 2/1
While the 2024 Mexico Grand Prix won’t make Verstappen’s highlight reel when he eventually calls time on F1, the Dutchman can return to the podium on Sunday in Sao Paulo.
The three-time world champion does have pedigree in this race, having won the Brazilian Grand Prix in both 2019 and 2023.
Winning a third race at Interlagos might be a push for the Red Bull star this weekend, but a more composed drive from Verstappen can help him get amongst the Ferraris to finish alongside Norris on the podium.
Tip 3 - Pierre Gasly points finish @ 9/2
Casting an eye further down the grid, backing Pierre Gasly to finish in the top 10 and among the points appeals in this race.
The Frenchman has managed to finish in the points six times already in this 2024 F1 season, while he finished in 10th place at the Mexican Grand Prix last time out.
Gasly impressed at Interlagos for his Alpine team last year, as he finished in seventh place, while he also knows what it takes to finish on the podium in Sao Paulo.
Finishing in second place at the Brazilian Grand Prix in 2019, Gasly appears to have a liking for this track and is worth considering to finish back in the points again.
