Premier League London Teams
It’s quite remarkable that seven of the 20 Premier League teams come from London. No other top division in world football has quite the same density of teams from one place.
Paris has PSG. Madrid has Real, Atletico, Rayo Vallecano and Getafe. Munich has Bayern and 1860 Munich.

Arsenal
Winners of 13 English titles and a record 14 FA Cups, Arsenal are one of the most historic clubs in world football. They have played in the top division of English football since 1913. They moved to the Emirates Stadium in 2006 and Gillespie Road tube station was renamed Arsenal.

Brentford
Founded in 1889, Brentford returned to England’s top division in 2021 after an absence of 74 years. Brentford Community Stadium opened in 2020 and is the closest Premier League stadium to Heathrow Airport.

Chelsea
Chelsea have been crowned English champions six times and won eight FA Cups. They are also the most successful London club in Europe, having won two Champions Leagues. Stamford Bridge is wedged in the busy streets of Fulham and the Blues have struggled to expand the ground due to its location.

Crystal Palace
Based in south London, Crystal Palace attracts fans down into Kent and Sussex, as well as the capital. The Eagles have never been crowned English champions but have spent the last decade in the Premier League.

Fulham
The first professional club from London to join the Football League, Fulham is a small club compared to the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham but benefits from being in the capital. Fulham’s Craven Cottage stadium looms over the River Thames.

Tottenham Hotspur
Situated close to Arsenal, Tottenham fight for north London superiority each season. Their new £1bn stadium sits partially on the site of their old ground, White Hart Lane. Spurs have won two English championships. Their last trophy came in 2008 (League Cup).

West Ham United
Formerly situated at Upton Park, West Ham United moved to the London Stadium in 2016 – four years after the Olympics. The Hammers are the biggest club in east London and won a trophy as recently as 2023 (Europa Conference League). Visitors can either travel to Stratford or Hackney Wick stations.

There are six London teams in the Football League:
Millwall
Playing in the Championship this season, Millwall are traditional rivals of West Ham. They play at the Den in Bermondsey, right in the heart of London’s traditional working class, industrial region.

QPR
The second Championship team in London, Queens Park Rangers moved to Loftus Road in Shepherd’s Bush when their previous ground was used for war drills in 1917. Loftus Road is one of London’s most historic grounds and is wedged among rows of housing, making it the ideal community venue.

Charlton Athletic
League One’s Charlton play at the Valley, a 27,000 capacity stadium of historic significance. The ground has changed (and had its capacity reduced) a lot over time but it remains a go-to stadium for football fanatics.

Leyton Orient
Another London team whose stadium is built within terrace housing, Leyton Orient have been knocking around since 1881. Brisbane Road is known for its welcoming fans and well-frequented local pubs.

AFC Wimbledon
A phoenix club of Wimbledon FC, the Dons made it back into the Football League in 2011. They were based at Kingsmeadow until, in 2020, they moved to the newly-developed Plough Lane ground that sits on the old Wimbledon Greyhound site.

Bromley
The newest London football club in the EFL, Bromley secured promotion to League Two in 2024 via the playoffs. Their stadium holds just over 5,000 spectators, of which around 1,500 are seated. Located near Bromley South train station, they are the southernmost London club in professional football.

National League London Teams
The National League sits below the English Football League system, and features four teams from London in 2024/25:
Barnet
Barnet moved into The Hive in 2013, a decade after Wealdstone first began building a stadium on the Edgware site, only for the construction firm to fall into liquidation. Barney have bounced between League Two and the National League ever since.

Dagenham & Redbridge
Dagenham & Redbridge share their stadium with West Ham United Women. The ground has a 6,000 capacity. It played host to both Dagenham and Redbridge Forest F.C. until the two clubs merged in 1992.

Sutton United
Playing at the magnificently-named Gander Green Lane, Sutton United only recently dropped back into the National League. Crystal Palace Women also play at Gander Green Lane.

Grosvenor Vale is the smallest London football stadium within the top five tiers of the sport. Boasting a capacity of just 4,085, it is the home of Wealdstone and Watford Women.
