Premier League Richest Owners

Money doesn’t buy everything, and the richest Premier League owners don’t necessarily run the best teams in the league. The English Premier League owners are some of the wealthiest in the sport, but as you’ll see from the following list of Premier League owners, their net wealth doesn’t always translate to success, whether due to financial fair play regulations or simply bad management.

1st Place

Club: Newcastle United

Owner: Saudi Public Investment Fund, RB Sports & Media, PCP Capital Partners

Net Worth: £478 billion

In the mid-2010s, the Saudi Public Investment Fund began investing in large brands and companies around the globe. It's one of the largest sovereign wealth funds in the world, and it has invested with companies like Boeing, Citigroup, and Heathrow Airport.

In 2021, the company took over Newcastle United. Although this generated quite a bit of controversy, it has resulted in a huge improvement for the club, which is now challenging at the top level once again.

2nd Place

Club: Manchester United

Owner: Glazer Family, Sir Jim Ratcliffe

Net Worth: £19.2 billion

Back in 2003, Manchester United was bought by Malcolm Glazer, an American businessman who served as CEO of First Allied Corporation and already owned the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The sale was met with resistance from fans, who objected to the new ownership and consistently protested against the Glazer family’s involvement in the club.

In 2022, the Glazer family stated they were open to selling the club, and Sir Jim Ratcliffe ended up purchasing a 26.2% stake. He has since continued to purchase stakes in the club and by 2024 he owned 28.9%.

3rd Place

**Club:**Aston Villa Owner: Wes Edens, Nassef Sawiris **Net Worth:**£13.8 billion

Wes Edens built his fortune as a businessman and private equity investor, while Nassef Sawiris is the richest man in Egypt, running several businesses and investing in global brands. In 2018, the two bought a 55% controlling stake in Aston Villa, making them the owners of the club.

Aston Villa has since undergone massive changes, making their way back to the Premier League, clearing debts and expanding their stadium.

4th Place

Club: Manchester City

Owner: Abu Dhabi United Group, Silver Lake

**Net Worth:**£12.9 billion

The Abu Dhabi United Group is behind the City Group, founded in 2008 to take over Manchester City. The deal was concluded that same year. Sheikh Mansour took the reigns and the club underwent one of the largest changes in the sport’s history.

Manchester City went from being a mediocre team to one of the most competitive powers in the Premier League. The next 15 years would see the club lift the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League.

5th Place

**Club:**Chelsea

Owner: Todd Boehly, Hansjorg Wyss, Mark Walter

**Net Worth:**£12.21 billion

After the invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the UK government started enforcing sanctions on Russian oligarchs in the country which affected Roman Abramovich’s ownership of Chelsea. It led to his departure from the club which had now been purchased by a group known as BlueCo. This was made up of Todd Boehly, Hansjorg Wyss and Mark Walter, American and Swiss businessmen and billionaires.

Since the takeover Chelsea has gone through a rough period, struggling to manage the same performances they had under Abramovich’s ownership.

6th Place

Club: Ipswich Town

Owner: Gamechanger 20 Ltd

**Net Worth:**£10.8 billion

In 2021, Ipswich Town was bought by Gamechanger 20 Ltd an investment group made up of Brett Johnson, Berke Bakay and Mark Detmer. Their funds mostly come from ORG, as well as the Three Lions fund which is backed by the Bakay Capital Fund. They’ve been slowly building the club since then, with Kieran McKenna managing the team.

Ipswich Town have been progressively improving and has made it back to the Premier League to start challenging for top spots on the table.

7th Place

**Club:**Arsenal

Owner: Stan Kroenke

**Net Worth:**£9.97 billion

An American businessman, Stan Kroenke came into quite a bit of capital in 1974 when he married Ann Walton, the heiress to Walmart. Since then, he has set up all kinds of businesses that have made him the billionaire he is today. In 2007 he bought a stake in Arsenal and eventually took over in 2011.

Kroenke was originally criticised for a lack of investment in signings which led to a period of lukewarm results. But over time Kroenke has made good on his promises and in the past couple of seasons, Arsenal has returned to form and become a force to be reckoned with in the Premier League.

8th Place

**Club:**West Ham

Owner: David Sullivan, Daniel Kretinsky, Vanessa Gold

**Net Worth:**£7.96 billion

Some Premier League clubs are owned by people who made their fortune through real estate or investment companies, but West Ham’s owners had taken a different route. David Sullivan and the late David Gold were both involved in the adult industry, and eventually bought West Ham in 2010.

The club’s fortunes have been on quite a ride since then, with mixed results. But West Ham have managed their biggest achievement in over 40 years, winning the UEFA Europa Conference League trophy in 2023.

9th Place

**Club:**Liverpool

Owner: John W. Henry, Tom Werner

**Net Worth:**£7.75 billion

John Henry is yet another American businessman running a Premier League side. As head of Fenway Sports Group, he took over the club in 2010 and also runs the Boston Red Sox in the States.

Over the past decade Liverpool have enjoyed a streak of success under Jurgen Klopp’s management and a lot of this is attributed to the Fenway Sports Group’s willingness to spend money on high quality transfers. They’ve always been ready to accommodate managers, making sure they have the funds they need to build a winning team.

10th Place

**Club:**Fulham

Owner: Shahid Khan

**Net Worth:**£6.1 billion

Shahid Khan has invested in all sorts of sporting associations around the globe, including the Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL and All Elite Wrestling. He’s owned Fulham for more than a decade with mixed results.

The club went through some turbulent times, suffering relegation multiple times. But things have started to look up, with Fulham managing to stay in the top league for two consecutive seasons.

11th Place

**Club:**Wolves

Owner: Guo Guangchang, Liang Xinjun, Wang Qunbin

**Net Worth:**£5.33 billion

The Fosun Group based in Shanghai and Hong Kong has owned Wolves since 2016. The group is led by Guo Guangchang who took over the club for a mere £45 million.

Since then, they’ve managed to promote and keep Wolves in the Premier League. Although they’ve always had European football in their sights, their plans have been sidetracked by financial fair play which has limited their ability to make top signings.

12th Place

**Club:**Tottenham Hotspur

Owner: Joe Lewis, Daniel Levy

**Net Worth:**£4.48 billion

Joe Lewis heads ENIC which has been Tottenham’s biggest stakeholder since 2001. But he’s not exactly a present owner, leaving the running to chairman Daniel Levy instead.

Tottenham have achieved mixed results over the years, although they have become incredibly competitive in the past few seasons. Alongside accusations of insider trading against Lewis, rumours have begun mentioning a potential sale of the club.

13th Place

**Club:**Crystal Palace

Owner: John Textor, David Blitzer, Josh Harris, Steve Parish

**Net Worth:**£4.25 billion

The partners that own Crystal Palace also run the New Jersey Devils in the NHL and the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA. They’ve been at the helm of the club since 2010 and saw the club achieve promotion to the Premier League in 2013.

Although they never really challenge for top table spots, the Eagles have always managed to maintain their mid-table positions and haven’t been relegated in over a decade.

14th Place

**Club:**Leicester City

Owner: The Srivaddhanaprabha Family

**Net Worth:**£2.7 billion

The Srivaddhanaprabhas made their fortune through King Power and bought Leicester City in 2010. They have since enjoyed incredible success, thanks to the Srivaddhanaprabhas’ investment in the club’s infrastructure. It led to their historic Premier League win in 2016.

Since then the club has had mixed performances, suffering relegation and making back to the top flight.

15th Place

**Club:**Everton

Owner: Farhad Moshiri

**Net Worth:**£2.24 billion

Moshiri’s takeover in 2016 came with huge promises that claimed to push Everton to unprecedented heights. But that’s been far from the truth and the Merseyside club has gone through a tumultuous time, suffering from bad performances and relegation. It has led to rumours about the club being potentially sold off to a new owner.

16th Place

**Club:**Bournemouth

Owner: William P. Foley

**Net Worth:**£1.24 billion

Bournemouth had been going through a particularly rough time when American billionaire Bill Foley took over in 2023. But since then, the club has turned a page and a series of fantastic signings have ensured Bournemouth’s place in the Premier League. They may not be challenging the top clubs just yet, but they’re still one of the most consistent sides in the league.

17th Place

**Club:**Brighton

Owner: Tony Bloom

**Net Worth:**£1 billion

Tony Bloom took over Brighton in 2009 and the club has transformed ever since. Bloom made his fortune through poker gambling and has adopted a very systematic approach to business with Brighton. The club’s scouting system has been able to bring in promising talent from around the world, to lift their profile and sell them for a profit.

18th Place

**Club:**Southampton

Owner: Sport Republic, Katharina Liebherr

**Net Worth:**£1 billion

Southampton had been suffering from several financial woes for years before the Liebherr family stepped in to save the day. The family’s business is known for selling construction machinery and equipment and they bought a stake in the club back in 2009. But in 2022 Sport Republic bought 80% of the club and has been applying a data-driven strategy to improve the side’s value and profitability.

19th Place

**Club:**Nottingham Forest

Owner: Evangelos Marinakis

**Net Worth:**£479 million

Marinakis also happens to be the owner of Greek side Olympiacos and has invested heavily in Nottingham Forest, who have seen plenty of transfers in the past few years. It seems to have paid off, as the club has achieved promotion to the Premier League and managed to maintain their position for two consecutive seasons.

20th Place

**Club:**Brentford

Owner: Matthew Benham

**Net Worth:**£216.3 million

Last on our list of Premier League owners' wealth is Benham, a Brentford fan who managed to make millions from gambling firms before buying his favourite club in 2012. Since then, he has made strategic signings that have helped the club get to the Premier League and maintain their place.

He has a similar approach with Brentford to Brighton, buying key players and then selling them off for a profit. Although Benham has the lowest Premier League owners net worth, he still runs one of the best-managed clubs in the league
