Another Premier League weekend kicks off with a fascinating Saturday lunchtime tussle between Crystal Palace and title-chasing Liverpool.
Liverpool have won five of their six Premier League games this season, making a strong start to life under new manager Arne Slot, but a trip to Palace is rarely straightforward.
There are a number of other intriguing clashes this Saturday and Sunday and we have picked out the best bets for the weekend’s Premier League action.
Tip 1 – Over 3.5 goals in Arsenal v Southampton @ 22/25
There has been more steel about Arsenal this season and they appear to be carrying the mental strength to sustain their title challenge. Victory over Southampton should be a formality, given the weakness of the visitors.
Southampton have picked up just one point from their opening six games of the season and appear grossly ill equipped for Premier League survival. Arsenal, unbeaten this term and growing in belief, seem likely to rip Southampton apart at will. Expect a heavy home win and four or more goals in the game.
Tip 2 – Over 3.5 goals in Manchester City v Fulham @ 6/5
While Arsenal make merry against Southampton, something similar may unfold at the Etihad Stadium. Fulham are being shown great respect by the market-making community after their surprisingly positive start to the season, but the Cottagers look likely to slip back into the bottom half of the table before long.
There is a gulf in class between Fulham and Manchester City, who realise that three points are essential to keep pace in a title race which has thrown up more contenders than Pep Guardiola probably expected before the season began. Expect an early assault on Fulham's net and for four or more goals in the game.
Tip 3 – West Ham to beat Ipswich @ 4/5
West Ham have faced some tough opposition in recent weeks and talk of their disappointing start to the season has probably been overplayed. Defeats to Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool are nothing to be hugely concerned about and the Hammers can get back on track by defeating Ipswich at the London Stadium.
Man for man, the West Ham squad appears considerably stronger than that of the Tractor Boys, who could be set for an immediate return to the Championship. Ipswich are yet to win a Premier League game this season.
Tip 4 – Chelsea to win & both teams to score v Nottingham Forest @ 19/10
Chelsea fans are enjoying this season, seeing their expensively assembled squad starting to gel, and further joy should be forthcoming at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. The Blues are bursting with attacking quality, with the inspirational Cole Palmer pulling the strings from wherever he fancies going on the pitch.
The Chelsea defence is far less convincing. Nottingham Forest will feel they can get on the scoresheet in the capital, but their hosts should be too powerful at the other end.
