Premier League Matchday Two Preview

The Premier League season burst into life last weekend and the second set of matches are forthcoming. Champions Manchester City, who got off to a fantastic start with a 2-0 success at Chelsea last Sunday, face Ipswich Town at the Etihad Stadium at 3pm on Saturday.

Arsenal, widely regarded as the biggest threat to City in the title race this season, face a much trickier assignment on Saturday. The Gunners travel to Aston Villa for the 5.30pm fixture.

There are a number of other intriguing clashes across Saturday and Sunday and we have picked out the best bets for the weekend’s Premier League action.

Tip 1 – Tottenham/Tottenham Half Time/Full Time v Everton @ 21/20

This could turn into a tough season for Everton on the evidence of their miserable opening-day defeat at home to Brighton - and further punishment seems likely in London on Saturday.

The Toffees were well beaten by Brighton long before Ashley Young was sent off in front of the Goodison Park faithful after 66 minutes. Everton managed to avoid relegation last season, but they could quickly get sucked into another battle.

Tottenham are bursting with attacking intent under gung-ho gaffer Ange Postecoglou, especially at home, and backing Spurs to be leading at half-time and winning at full-time could prove a smart move.

Tip 2 – West Ham to beat Crystal Palace @ 23/10

Arguably the most productive transfer business in the summer came from West Ham, who made some superb signings, and the new recruits may give the Hammers the edge in Saturday's London derby at Crystal Palace.

Much was made about the amount of Crystal Palace players in the England Euro 2024 squad, but the Eagles' excellence last season may be followed by a less spectacular new campaign. Michael Olise has gone to Bayern Munich and some other Palace stars are unsettled.

West Ham are undoubtedly stronger than last season, with former Palace man Aaron Wan-Bissaka just one of several big-money signings. The visitors can claim three points.

Tip 3 – Over 4.5 goals in Manchester City v Ipswich Town @ 7/4

Manchester City negotiated a difficult fixture with ease on the opening day, making short work of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, and the champions should be even stronger for their second Premier League outing of the season.

Pep Guardiola has eased some of his best players into action after Euro 2024, so he has a fresh and hungry squad. Ipswich Town look woefully ill-equipped to repel City and goals seem almost certain.

Five goals or more in the game is an eye-catchingly big price. If City switch-off or get complacent, Ipswich may be able to nick a consolation goal to help the bet.

Tip 4 – Chelsea to Win & Both Teams To Score v Wolves @ 21/10

Chelsea's expensively assembled squad was always going to take time to gel, especially under a new manager, but they should have too much quality for Wolves.

The fact that Chelsea were able to sign Pedro Neto from Wolves earlier this month just highlights the gulf in class between the sides. The £54 million signing is one of many mouthwatering selection options for Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca and they can win at entertaining clash at Molineux.
