Premier League Matchday 1 Preview
The Premier League kicks off on Friday night as Manchester United host Fulham! This gameweek provides every team the chance to start with a clean slate, what happened last season is in the past, all that matters now is what happens in the next 38 Premier League games.
Premier League Betting Tips
The first Premier League football weekend of the season is approaching with prospective title contenders Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United all on the lookout for positive starts.
Champions Manchester City head to Chelsea, who will be hoping to get in the title picture, on Sunday, while Liverpool take on newly-promoted Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Saturday.
Arsenal, who finished second to City in last season's title race, host Wolves at the Emirates, while West Ham take on Aston Villa in what should be an interesting Saturday evening contest.
Tip 1 - Man Utd to win to nil @ 37/20
Man Utd and Fulham get the Premier League season underway on Friday night and there appear reasons to be optimistic about the Red Devils chances of a successful campaign.
Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui and Joshua Zirkzee have made big-money moves to Old Trafford, Jadon Sancho returns from a spell away from the club and better can be expected from Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund.
Take United for a comfortable victory on Friday evening.
Tip 2 - Liverpool to score over 2.5 goals @ 21/20
Ipswich return to the Premier League with a Portman Road tie against Liverpool and it could be tough going for the Tractor Boys.
Liverpool scored 89 goals in 38 Premier League matches last season and they smashed 15 goals in six games against Luton, Burnley and Sheffield United, who were promoted from the Championship.
With that in mind the Reds look capable of putting three, four or more past Ipswich.
Tip 3 - West Ham to beat Aston Villa @ 7/5
West Ham have conducted some excellent summer transfer business and, with Julen Lopetegui taking over in the dugout, there are good vibes at the London Stadium.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Max Kilman, Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Fullkrug and Luis Guilherme are all strong additions to what was already a useful Hammers squad and the Irons look a good bet to see off Aston Villa on Saturday.
Villa enjoyed an excellent campaign last term, which saw Unai Emery’s men reach a top-four spot, but with that will come a target and the counter-attacking opportunities, which proved so successful last term, may be limited for the Villans.
Tip 4 - Crystal Palace to beat Brentford @ 9/5
Crystal Palace ended last season in flying form, winning six of their final seven Premier League matches and the Eagles can continue where they left off at Brentford.
Michael Olise has left Selhurst Park, but Jean-Philippe Mateta, Eberechi Eze, Joachim Andersen, Marc Guehi and Adam Wharton are excellent performers and manager Oliver Glasner had his side playing progressive football last term.
Brentford have been quiet in the transfer market and that’s a worry for a side who could only finish 16th last season.
Tip 5 - Man City to beat Chelsea @ 3/4
It was another unsettled summer at Stamford Bridge and it’s hard to have much faith in Chelsea enjoying a successful season, certainly in the early part of the campaign.
The Blues start with a clash against the champions Man City and, for all that it hasn’t been a perfect off-season for the Citizens, Pep Guardiola’s men should be too good for the Blues.
