Euro 2024 Daily Accumulator: 15/06/2024
The first full day of European Championships action is upon us! After Germany and Scotland opened the show on Friday evening, six teams will battle it out for the spotlight on day two of the European Championships. In the second game in Group A, Hungary take on Switzerland at 14:00.
Then later in the evening, we have the most highly anticipated tie of the day as Spain take on Croatia in a repeat of the classic Round of 16 match from Euro 2020. Interestingly, Spain’s 5-3 victory over Croatia means that Spain are the only nation that have stopped Croatia making the semi-finals in the last three major tournaments. Spain also beat Croatia in the final of the 2022/23 UEFA Nations League. However, both of those games were tied after 90 minutes.
Our final game of the evening sees the current Champions Italy take on the underdogs of group B, Albania who beat the likes of Poland and the Czech Republic to make it to Euro 2024.
Euro 2024 - 15/06/24 Tip 1: Switzerland Winning Margin = 1 @ 29/10
Very few teams are as consistent in tournament football as Switzerland, in the last five major tournaments, Switzerland have been eliminated in the round of 16 on four occasions, the other time, they lost in the quarter-final.
It seems evident that Switzerland will progress from the group and we think they’ll do so in a comfortable fashion, not to say the results will be comfortable. In-fact, we think this game will be anything but for the Swiss, Hungary are more than capable of an upset as we have learned numerous times over the years but in games like this, the Swiss more often than not edge it.
We’re not confident enough in the early stages to predict whether the game will finish 1-0 or 2-1, so we’re going for a Switzerland 1 goal victory.
Euro 2024 - 15:06/24 Tip 2: Spain to win + over 2.5 goals @ 21/10
The two Spain Vs Croatia fixtures could have been more different! Four years ago we saw eight goals and more recently we saw none. However, there was one consistency between those two games, Spain won.
In this scenario, Spain have more to lose than to gain and will likely look to take the ascendency early on, a draw wouldn’t be the worst result for them but knowing they can take control of the group with a win here will be exactly what they want.
However, Spain have also conceded against Cyprus, Northern Ireland and Georgia in their last six, with the only clean sheet coming against Andorra. We don’t look too deep into friendlies but Croatia have a great chance of getting on the scoresheet and we think both teams will score in a Spain win but with this bet we also have the insurance policy of a 3-0 Spain win, even if that seems unlikely.
Euro 2024 - 15:06/24 Tip 3: Italy to win 2-0 @ 5/1
Italy come into the Euros as dark horses, nobody really expects them to perform as well as they did in Euro 2020 but they aren’t underestimated. A lot of people believe that Italy could be the shock elimination from Group B at the same time, if that was to happen, they would need to drop points here against Albania.
The Albanians are too good to be overlooked and they actually won their qualification group by conceding just four goals in eight games. Current manager Sylvinho has the best win percentage of any Albanian manager in their history but we believe Italy have just enough to win this game, keep a clean sheet and put a potential shock defeat behind them.
