Europa League: Round of 16 Tips
The Europa League has reached the last 16 stage and there is still plenty of British interest, with Manchester United, Tottenham and Rangers remaining in the competition.
The Red Devils visit Real Sociedad in the first leg of their round of 16 clash, while Ange Postecoglou’s side take on AZ Alkmaar.
Rangers were finalists in this competition back in 2022 but have a tough trip to take on Fenerbahce in the round of 16 this time around.
Tip 1: Tottenham to beat AZ Alkmaar @ Evs
Tottenham and AZ Alkmaar met in the league phase of this competition, with Spurs running out 1-0 winners, and they are fancied to be successful once again when the pair meet in the first leg of this round of 16 tie.
Ange Postecoglou’s side have far fewer injury issues than they did a month ago and they have won two of their last three games as a result.
They were a touch unlucky not to get anything from their 1-0 defeat to Manchester City last time out and their Premier League quality should tell in the Netherlands.
Tip 2: Real Sociedad to beat Manchester United @ Evs
Real Sociedad have won five of their last six Europa League games and should be able to extend that run against Manchester United.
The visitors have a plethora of injury concerns, especially defensively, and they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Fulham at the weekend.
Ruben Amorim’s side have just two wins from their last six matches, and they look set to fall short again.
Tip 3: Fenerbahce to win and both teams to score v Rangers @ 7/4
Rangers have lost three of their last five matches in all competitions and could fall to another defeat against Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce in the first leg of their round of 16 clash.
Both teams have scored in 13 of Rangers' last 15 road trips, and the same looks likely in what may be an end-to-end affair.
Barry Ferguson’s side have looked vulnerable defensively of late, while the hosts have won eight of their last nine home games, including a 3-0 triumph over Anderlecht in this competition recently. Take both teams to score and Fenerbahce to win.
Tip 4: Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals in Ajax v Eintracht Frankfurt @ 8/11
Ajax vs. Eintracht Frankfurt is one of the most eye-catching ties in the Europa League round of 16, and both teams should put on an entertaining affair.
Both teams have scored in five of Frankfurt’s last seven games, while only three teams scored more goals in the league phase than Ajax.
Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals could be a possibility with the goals potentially flowing in this fixture.
