Europa League: Matchday Five Betting Tips & Prediction
The Europa League takes centre stage on Thursday as matchday five in UEFA's secondary competition features 18 games across the continent.
Amongst them will be Ruben Amorim making his Old Trafford bow as Manchester United boss when Bodo/Glimt visit.
Further British interest comes via Rangers travelling to Nice and Tottenham hosting Roma. We have matchday five tips, including from the three games featuring English and Scottish teams.
Tip 1: Manchester United to win and both teams to score @ 27/20
The new Man United boss witnessed at first hand the scale of task in front of him on Sunday as Ipswich Town largely outplayed the expensively assembled squad he has inherited.
Amorim insists that he's going to try and improve systems and structure rather than focus solely on results but, even so, some wins would come in handy.
Three draws in four Europa League games means the Red Devils need to be careful in their quest to make the knockouts.
Bodo/Glimt have more points than United and have scored in three of their four games, including a 3-2 win over Porto.
The Norwegians can get on the scoresheet at Old Trafford, but Amorim may get his opening win in the end.
Tip 2: Tottenham to beat Roma @ 4/6
Spurs should be buzzing after their weekend demolition of Manchester City and Ange Postecoglou, while likely to make some alterations, has tended to go with a strong line-up in his European outings.
Roma, meanwhile, have brought Claudio Ranieri out of retirement to become their third manager of the season already, following Daniele de Rossi and Ivan Juric.
The Serie A side have scored just three goals in four Europa League outings and this competition might not be their ultimate focus as they languish in the bottom half of Serie A right now. Spurs' problem has been consistency, mixing the sublime with the ridiculous at times, which is even more reason the Aussie boss will be eager to put another win on the board after Saturday's superb Premier League win.
Tip 3: Nice and Rangers to draw & BTTS @ 17/5
Rangers manager Philippe Clement is under intense scrutiny right now, with Saturday's lacklustre home draw against Dundee United greeted by choruses of boos from the Ibrox faithful.
They have already slipped 11 points adrift of champions Celtic in the Scottish Premiership and have a League Cup final in mid-December against the Bhoys looming.
They need to establish some momentum before that and Europe continues to offer solace for the Light Blues, who have taken seven points from 12 so far.
Their only reverse was against Ligue 1 opposition in Lyon, but the Gers' resistance on the road is long established and they might grind out a result against a Nice side who have conceded eight goals in four Europa League games and who are still searching for their first win in the competition.
