EFL Fourth Round Betting Tips & Predictions

The EFL Cup has reached the last-16 stage and the quarter-finalists will be determined over the course of Tuesday and Wednesday night.

Southampton and Brentford are the Premier League sides in action on Tuesday night, while the big guns of the division appear 24 hours later.

Manchester United, who have just sacked Erik ten Hag, host Leicester City, while Arsenal travel to Preston North End.

Championship side Preston are the only non-Premier League outfit on the six-game Wednesday-night card.

Tip 1 - Southampton to score in both halves v Stoke City @ 23/20

Pep Guardiola heaped praise on Southampton after his Manchester City side struggled to a 1-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

Saints enjoyed a huge amount of possession for an away side at City and could take plenty of positives from the narrow defeat to the champions.

Southampton return to action at home to much weaker opponents in the EFL Cup fourth round on Tuesday and can be fancied to take charge.

A 2-0 loss to Sheffield United on Saturday means Stoke City have won just one of their last seven games, with confidence draining from the Potters.

Tip 2 - Brentford to win and both teams to score v Sheffield Wednesday @ 41/20

Brentford have scored a total of nine goals in their last two home games and the Bees will expect to be buzzing again at the Gtech Community Stadium on Tuesday night.

The departure of Ivan Toney to Saudi Arabia in August has done nothing to blunt the threat of Brentford in London.

They looked to be heading for a 3-3 draw against Ipswich Town on Saturday, but Bryan Mbeumo popped up in the sixth minute of injury time with a winner, so expect another high-scoring home win against Sheffield Wednesday.

Tip 3 - Brighton v Liverpool over 3.5 goals @ 8/5

Liverpool were not at their best on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium, but still took a point from a visit to one of their title rivals, underlining how well drilled the Reds have become under new boss Arne Slot.

A 2-2 draw at Arsenal may be followed by another high-scoring encounter for the Reds at Brighton. The home side may be vulnerable after throwing away a 2-0 lead with just two minutes of normal time against Wolves on Saturday, so expect attacks to be on top on Wednesday and four or more goals in the game.

Tip 4 - Manchester City to beat Tottenham @ 6/5

Manchester City may not make many changes from their normal side at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday night and Pep Guardiola's team can be expected to progress to the quarter-finals.

City have won their last two visits to Spurs and Guardiola's charges are unbeaten away from home in all competitions this season. In fact, they have not lost a competitive away fixture since December last year.

With only 15 first-team outfield players available, Guardiola's options for shuffling his pack are limited and enough City class should be on display to edge out their hosts.
