Copa America Betting Tips & Predictions
Copa America Quarter Final Tips
The Copa America saw two of the big teams fall at the group stage hurdle with Mexico and the United States both failing to get out of their sections.
Venezuela progressed at Mexico’s expense from Group B after winning all three group games and they are rewarded with a clash against Canada in the quarter-finals.
In the other match defending champions Argentina cruised through their group and have landed a clash with Ecuador - who progressed at the expense of Mexico on goal difference - in the last eight.
Here we pick out the best bets for the two quarter-finals in the top half of the draw.
Tip 1 - Argentina win to nil v Ecuador @ 9/10
Argentina breezed through Group A in their Copa America title defence, winning all three games without conceding, and it’s hard to see them failing to get the better of Ecuador in the last eight.
La Albiceleste were without Lionel Messi for their final group outing, but still recorded a 2-0 success over Peru and their talisman is set to return from injury for this clash.
Lautaro Martinez has netted four times in three matches and looks a major contender to be tournament top goalscorer as a result.
Lionel Scaloni’s men have now kept six clean sheets in their last eight games, all wins, and they are fancied to secure a victory without conceding in this knockout match.
Argentina have won four of the last five head-to-heads without conceding and they can repeat the trick here.
Ecuador’s only win of the group stages came against basement boys Jamaica and they were blanked in their final group match against Mexico.
They should be able to keep things respectable but may fall to lay a glove on the only team that did not concede in the group stages.
Tip 2 - Venezuela to beat Canada @ 13/8
Venezuela were one of just three teams to win all of their group games and they look like the value option to beat Canada in their quarter-final clash.
La Vinotinto have been solid in World Cup qualifying, losing just one of their six games, and that was against the in-form Colombia.
Canada failed to convince in their three group games. They were beaten 2-0 by Argentina in their opener before defeating ten-man Peru 1-0 and playing out a 0-0 draw with another side who had been reduced to ten men, Chile, in their final group match.
The Canucks have now scored just once in their last five outings and that could be a major issue again in this one.
Venezuela may lack the star names of their opponents, but they have a solid set-up and they could take advantage of the difficulty that Jesse Marsch’s men have had finding the net.
Take La Vinotinto to reach the semi-finals of this competition for just the second time in their history.
Quarter Finals: Second Section Tips
With Argentina dominating the betting in the top half of the draw, the bottom half of the Copa America draw looks like a much more intriguing battle.
Uruguay topped Group C, winning all three games and scoring nine goals in the process.
They have landed an unfortunate draw against Brazil after the Selecao drew two of their three group games to finish second in Group D.
Colombia topped that section after grinding out a 1-1 draw with Brazil in their final group match and have been rewarded by a clash with Panama, who finished ahead of the United States.
Here we pick out the best bets for the two quarter-finals in the bottom half of the draw.
Tip 1 - Colombia to win and over 2.5 goals @ 23/25
Colombia have been one of the most impressive teams in international football in recent years, going 26 games unbeaten and winning 20 of those.
They have beaten Spain, Brazil and Germany in that run and recorded a 5-1 win over the United States recently.
La Tricolor cruised through their group winning their first two games against Paraguay and Costa Rica before a 1-1 draw against Brazil that secured top spot in the section.
Colombia did miss a big chance late on to win it and they should cruise past Panama here.
The Canal Men have lost four of their last eight games and look vulnerable against such an in-form opponent.
Four of their last five games have gone over 2.5 goals and the same could land here.
The overs has landed in six of Colombia’s last eight outings and they can prove their outright credentials by recording a high-scoring success against this Panama side.
Tip 2 - Draw in Uruguay v Brazil @ 41/20
Brazil and Uruguay are second and third respectively in the outright market, so this quarter final could go a long way to deciding who represents the bottom half of the draw in the final.
The Selecao have failed to convince recently, they drew with Costa Rica in their opener and also played out a stalemate with Colombia in their final game in Group C.
They have landed a tough draw as a result of finishing second in the section, taking on a Uruguay team that have improved hand over fist under Marcelo Bielsa.
The former Leeds boss has guided them to wins over Argentina, Mexico and these opponents Brazil under his tutelage.
Bielsa’s side look ready to serve it up to the Selecao, who are in transition under new boss Dorival Junior.
Brazil will also be without star striker Vinicius Jr who is suspended after picking up two yellows in the group stages.
Dorival Junior’s men have drawn four of their last six games and a repeat of that is fancied in this one.
