Champions League Quarter Final Tips & Predictions
The four Champions League quarter-final second-leg ties take place across Tuesday and Wednesday, with some fascinating fixtures to come.
On Tuesday, Aston Villa will look to overturn a 3-1 deficit when they host Paris Saint-Germain, while Barcelona head to Germany to face Borussia Dortmund, with the five-time champions 4-0 up from their home leg.
The highlight of Wednesday sees Real Madrid entertain Arsenal, with the Gunners on the brink of knocking out the defending champions after a 3-0 win at the Emirates.
The other tie will take place at the San Siro, when Inter Milan takes on Bayern Munich with a 2-1 lead from the first leg in Germany.
Tip 1: Raphinha to Score or Assist @ 10/11
The Westfalenstadion can often be an intimidating place to play on a big European night, but Barcelona have a four-goal cushion to protect in Dortmund.
That first-leg success will force the Bundesliga outfit to come out and go in search of goals, which will leave gaps at the back for Barca to exploit.
Hansi Flick’s men have already beaten Dortmund twice during this campaign, as well as claiming a victory over Bayern Munich in the League Phase.
The Catalans have scored more goals than any other team in this season’s Champions League, with 36, while also having the top-two individual scorers in the competition, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski.
Raphinha has 12 goals to his name and, in the first leg, equalled Lionel Messi’s record for the most goal contributions (19) in a European campaign, and the Brazilian will feel he can beat that mark on Tuesday.
Tip 2: Aston Villa v Paris Saint Germain – Over 3.5 Goals @ 8/5
On performances alone, Paris Saint-Germain look like the team to beat in this season’s competition, with Luis Enrique moulding them into real contenders.
Having seen off Liverpool in the last round, the French champions deserved their two-goal lead to take to Villa Park with 29 shots and 75% possession at the Parc des Princes.
PSG head to Birmingham, having won their last 16 away games in all competitions, with nine of those matches seeing over 3.5 goals.
Villa will feel they can at least get their name on the scoresheet, having found the net in each of their last 15 matches at Villa Park.
Tip 3: Inter Milan v Bayern Munich – Draw @ 5/2
Inter Milan reached the final two years ago and their performances this term have again shown they are real contenders to lift the trophy.
A 2-1 win in Munich highlighted their threat going forward, with Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram linking up well as strike partnership.
Inter have drawn eight games in Serie A this season, while Bayern have finished level in two of their last five matches, including a 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. The Milan giants have already kept eight clean sheets in Europe this term, and they will make life tough for Bayern’s forward players.
Tip 4: Myles Lewis-Skelly to be carded @ 29/10
Arsenal will undoubtedly face periods of pressure at the Bernabeu on Wednesday, with their back-four having to stand firm to grab their place in the semi-finals.
With Gabriel missing through injury, it’s not the Gunners’ first-choice defensive line, but they showed in the first leg that they are capable of thwarting Europe’s top-level forwards. Myles Lewis-Skelly has played a big part in Arsenal’s recent success, with his displays earning him a call-up to the England senior squad.
The full-back has collected four yellow cards and two red cards across all competitions this season, and he will face a massive task of keeping the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior at bay.
