UCL: Knockout Phase Play-offs 2nd Leg Tips: City to Overcome Deficit
Battling for a place in the UEFA Champions League last 16, Manchester City and Celtic are preparing huge European nights in their knockout play-off second-legs this week.
City find themselves 3-2 down going into their second-leg showdown with fellow European heavyweights Real Madrid on Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, Tuesday night will see Celtic look to cause a major upset in Bavaria as Brendan Rodgers’ side trail the mighty Bayern Munich 2-1 ahead of their second leg at the Allianz Arena.
That clash in Germany takes place on the same evening as AC Milan also look to battle back from being a goal down when they host Feyenoord at the San Siro.
Tip 1 - Manchester City to win @ 4/1
Starting with the big one in the Spanish capital, City have work to do if they are to reach the last 16 after conceding two late goals against Real at the Etihad Stadium.
City conceded three poor goals in that game, which they really should have won in Manchester when they took the lead with an Erling Haaland penalty with 10 minutes of normal time remaining.
However, there are positives to take from the game and after a 4-0 win over fellow Premier League top-four contenders Newcastle United at the weekend, City are starting to find their rhythm.
Real will have seen their confidence take a slight dent after a 1-1 draw against Osasuna last time out, and City are good value to win on the night at the Bernabeu.
Tip 2 - Bayern Munich to win & both teams to score @ 21/20
Bayern Munich hold a 2-1 advantage going into their second leg against Celtic, but the Bavarian giants should be out of sight in this tie.
Celtic did well to hang on in their opening encounter in Glasgow, and a late goal from Daizen Maeda has given the Hoops a lifeline ahead of the second leg.
The Bhoys might well have their moment in this game at the Allianz Arena, where Bayern have only kept one clean sheet in their last four home games.
However, Celtic have failed to win any of their last 12 away games in the Champions League and it’s difficult to see them ending that run on Tuesday at the home of the six-time European champions.
Tip 3 - AC Milan to win to nil @ 6/5
Seven-time European champions AC Milan have a battle on their hands to reach the last 16 as they trail Dutch outfit Feyenoord 1-0 after the first leg.
A goal from Igor Paixao is the difference between the two sides following the first 90 minutes, in a game that the Rossoneri will think they should have taken something from.
Having four more shots on target than the Eredivisie side in that game and enjoying more possession, Milan should feel confident of winning the second leg on Tuesday.
Feyenoord have failed to score in their last two away matches against PSV Eindhoven and NAC Breda and Milan to win to nil at the San Siro appeals here.
