Champions League Matchday Two Tips
The Champions League returns on Tuesday with plenty of cracking action all over the continent.
Arsenal host PSG in a top-level contest, while Man City head to Slovan Bratislava, Celtic face a tough assignment at Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan clash in Germany.
Tip 1 - Leverkusen to win & over 2.5 goals @ 5/4
Milan made a sticky start to the Serie A season, but victory over Inter in the Derby della Madonnina eased the pressure on boss Paulo Fonseca.
However, it’s hard to ignore how easily the Rossoneri were pulled apart by Liverpool on Matchday 1 of the Champions League and the Italians could be in trouble again at Leverkusen.
The German champions have made a solid start to their domestic campaign, securing a 1-1 draw at Bayern Munich on Saturday.
Die Werkself hammered Feyenoord 4-0 in the Netherlands in their opening European assignment of the campaign and appear to have returned in similar form to that of last season’s scintillating season.
Six of the eight games Xabi Alonso’s men have contested this season have passed the 2.5-goal mark and backing a high-scoring Leverkusen victory looks the way to play on Tuesday.
Tip 2 - Dortmund to win & over 2.5 goals @ 17/20
Celtic have made a fantastic start to their domestic campaign, but as we have seen in recent years, the Bhoys struggle to make the step up in class in Europe.
The Hoops make the trip to Dortmund on Tuesday night and it’s likely to be a difficult evening for Brendan Rodgers’ men.
Celtic lost their three away Champions League matches to an aggregate score of 10-0 last season and they failed to win a single European game in the season previous.
The Bhoys do have talent in their squad, but it’s hard to see a Celtic defence likely to contain Liam Scales and Greg Taylor keeping Dortmund at bay.
BVB have won their opening three Bundesliga home matches and Nuri Sahin’s men have scored 18 goals in their seven all-competition games this term and they hammered Bochum 4-2 at the weekend.
A high-scoring home win is fancied at Signal Iduna Park.
Tip 3 - Sporting to beat PSV @ 7/4
PSV are a perfect seven wins from seven Eredivisie matches, while Tuesday night’s rivals Sporting boast the same record in the Portuguese top-flight.
It’s an intriguing contest, but PSV conceded a hatful of chances when stepping up in class against Juventus in their opening Champions League clash and they could be punished by Sporting.
The Lions impressed when beating Lille 2-0, hitting 18 efforts on goal and, although that contest came at the Jose Alvalade Stadium, Sporting look good value to pick off PSV in Eindhoven.
