Champions League: Matchday 7 Tips
It’s Matchday 7 in the Champions League this week and with only two rounds of first phase matches remaining the battle for qualification is starting to heat up.
Arsenal, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Manchester City and Celtic are in action across Tuesday and Wednesday evening and we have a bet in each of the five matches concerning British teams.
Monaco to beat Aston Villa @ 29/20
Aston Villa rescued a 2-2 draw against Arsenal on Saturday, but Villa put a lot of effort into that Emirates clash, in which they were clearly second-best, and it may leave its mark in Monaco.
Unai Emery’s men have lost six of their last nine away games, and Monaco have been pretty strong at the Louis II Stadium.
The Red and Whites have been good enough to beat Barcelona on their own patch in the Champions League this season, and Villa look to face a tough test.
Liverpool to win to nil v Lille @ 11/8
Liverpool left it late to down Brentford at the weekend and the Premier League and Champions League leaders now turn their attention to an Anfield tie with Lille.
The Reds have won all of their six European matches this season and five of those victories have come without conceding.
Lille have scored only three goals in their last four away matches, and the French side may struggle to break Liverpool down.
Arsenal to score over 3.5 goals @ 33/20
Dinamo Zagreb have done well to win two Champions League matches in the league phase of the competition, but it’s been tough for the Croatians when they step up in class.
The Blues have been crushed 9-2 by Bayern Munich and 3-0 by Borussia Dortmund in Europe this season and another heavy defeat awaits at Arsenal.
Celtic/Celtic double result @ 9/10
Young Boys have lost all six of their league phase matches in this season’s Champions League. The Bern side has conceded 22 goals and scored only three.
A victory would give Celtic a huge chance of qualifying for the knockout stages of the competition, and the Hoops are unlikely to spurn the opportunity in Glasgow.
Brendan Rodgers’ side will be roared on by a home Parkhead crowd and the Bhoys have lost only one European match all campaign.
Over 3.5 goals in PSG v Manchester City @ 7/5
Manchester City’s trip to PSG has to be the highlight of Matchday 7 of the Champions League, and the high-class tie should deliver plenty of entertainment.
Both sides require points, with a place in the knockout rounds far from guaranteed and that desperation could lead to goals.
City warmed up for Wednesday's tie by hammering Ipswich 6-0, while PSG have scored six goals in their last two matches.
