African Cup of Nations - Quarter Finals Tips

The Africa Cup of Nations has been a tournament of surprises this year, with none of the eight quarter-finalists from the last edition making it to that stage this time around.

There is plenty of competitive action for punters to get their teeth across Friday and Saturday’s games and we have picked out the best bets for those matchups.

Tip 1 - Both teams to score in Nigeria v Angola @ 6/4

The first quarter-final sees heavyweights Nigeria take on Angola, who saw off Namibia easily in the round of 16.

This is a considerable jump in class on those opponents but Angola are unbeaten in their last ten games and could at least get on the scoresheet here.

The Black Sable Antelopes have scored in their last five matches and both teams have found the net in five of Nigeria’s last nine games.

The Super Eagles have been one of the most impressive teams at the tournament thus far but conceding in this one is not out of the realms of possibility.

Tip 2 - Guinea draw no bet v DR Congo @ 13/10

The Democratic Republic of Congo have reached the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations without winning a game in 90 minutes and they will be hoping to extend their run at the tournament when they face Guinea in the last eight.

A penalty shootout saw Congo sneak past Egypt and they have only won one of their last 11 games in all competitions, they may not be so lucky against Guinea.

The National Elephants have beaten Nigeria, Gambia and Equatorial Guinea recently and their 2-0 loss against Senegal in the group stages came when their progress was all but secured.

Since Congo have played out four stalemates at the tournament, take that out of the equation by backing Guinea in the draw no bet market.

Tip 3 - Mali draw no bet v Ivory Coast @ 29/20

Hosts Ivory Coast managed to sneak past Senegal in the round of 16, beating the defending champions on penalties.

The Elephants have not been the most convincing in the tournament however, winning just one game in 90 minutes.

They lost to Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea in the group stages and have a tough draw against Mali, who are unbeaten in their last 11 matches. The underdogs could continue the theme of upsets with a win here.

Tip 4 - South Africa to beat Cape Verde @ 19/10

The bookmakers are finding it difficult to split Cape Verde and South Africa before Saturday’s final quarter-final but Bafana Bafana are worth siding with.

They produced the biggest shock of the tournament so far when knocking out competition favourites Morocco in the round of 16 and they can follow that up.

Cape Verde have lost four of their last ten games in all competitions and may struggle to get anything out of Hugo Broos’ defence, which has kept four clean sheets in its last five outings.
