Alexandra Palace is the iconic venue for the PDC World Darts Championship, which gets underway on 13th December, through to the final on 1st January. Opened way back in 1875, it has undergone a number of renovations, the latest of which took place in 2017.

Travelling By Car

The good news is that it is free to park at Alexandra Palace but we advise that you get there relatively early as it is on a first come, first served basis. During a huge event such as the PDC World Darts Championship, spaces are likely to fill very quickly. Therefore, unless you know that you’ll be leaving extremely early, it may be best to look for public transport options so that you are not left disappointed and forced to park somewhere else.

If you are arriving by car, all major roads will have signposts for Alexandra Palace which you can follow. The venue is the following distance away from these roads:

5 miles from the M1 (Junction 2)
8 miles from the M25 (Junction 25)

Travelling By Train

There is a special train station named Alexandra Palace Station. You can get a train directly by Moorgate or you can get on from Kings Cross and then change at Finsbury Park.

The venue itself is a short distance away from the station, roughly a 15-minute walk at a relatively fast pace.

Travelling By London Underground

If you are looking to reach Alexandra Palace via the London Underground, the closest stations are Finsbury Park on the Victoria line and Wood Green on the Piccadilly line.

When travelling back to central London late, be aware of the latest train times from Wood Green:

Monday to Thursday: 00:09
Friday to Saturday: Night tube runs all night
Sunday: 23:15

The best way to get from either of these tube stations to the venue is via the W3 bus, which runs every 5-8 minutes from Monday to Friday, every 6-10 minutes on Saturday and every 9-12 minutes on Sunday.

Travelling By Bus

The W3 is the easiest option if you are travelling by bus, but you can also reach Alexandra Palace via the 184 towards Turnpike Lane Station. You can get the 184 every 7-11 minutes from Monday to Friday, every 6-10 minutes on Saturday and every 10-12 minutes on Sunday.

Hotels Near Alexandra Palace

There are a number of Hotels close to Alexandra Palace with a range of different prices and quality available. If you are looking for a cheaper option, the National Hotel is only 0.7 miles from the venue and should be cheap enough to book. There are also parking facilities on site.

Other options within a close distance of Ally Pally include; Forest House Hotel, Beaconsfield Hotel, Linton Apartments and Bay Tree House B&B.

Pubs Near Alexandra Palace

Some excellent pubs are nearby to Ally Pally. Victoria Stakes sits at the bottom of Alexandra Palace Way and should be full of fellow darts goers just before a session is due to start.

Another good option is The Goose, which has a friendly atmosphere and cheap enough drinks. You will be able to watch other sport here too, so if you are a football fan you should be able to find a match being broadcast to go along with your drinks.

The Phoenix Bar & Kitchen is on location at Alexandra Palace itself and features an outdoor area too.

Things To Do Close To Alexandra Palace

If you’re feeling adventurous before the darts gets underway, you can head to Go Ape for a climbing experience, but be prepared to work up a sweat.

The PDC Premier League Darts visits Nottingham in 2025. This will be the seventh night of the league phase, and some players will already be looking at their matches as a must win. Travelling By Car

The Motorpoint Arena is located right in the centre of Nottingham, making it fairly easy to access via car. It is less than half an hour from the A52 and once you reach Nottingham there will be Brown signs directing you to the Arena. In terms of parking, there is the option of buying a ticket for the specific Arena car park which is of course just a few minutes walk from the Arena itself.

Travelling By Train

The Nottingham train station is only a 10 minute walk away from the Motorpoint Arena, or alternatively an even shorter ride in a taxi. The trains into Nottingham station are fairly regular, run by East Midlands Trains.

Travelling By Bus

Nottingham has two main bus stations: Victoria and Broadmarsh. At this point in time, Broadmarsh is closed due to renovation work, so make sure to head to Victoria bus station which is around a 10 minute walk from the arena. Some buses provided by Nottingham City Transport (NCT) can drop you off very close to the arena itself.

Belfry Nottingham: This is a classy hotel with a modern design, and has great links to both the M1 and the city centre.
Best Western Plus Nottingham: Right in the heart of the city centre, there is a Royal Centre Tram stop right outside the doors and if you are walking to the Motorpoint Arena, it should only take around 10 minutes.
Colwick Hall: If you are looking for something more scenic, Colwick Hall may be for you. There is plenty of on-site parking and it is quite close to the city centre.

Did you know that Nottingham has more restaurants per square mile than any other city in the UK? That being said, it should come as no surprise to read that there is a varied choice for where to eat and drink.

Travelling By Car

When reaching the SSE Hydro by car, the good news is that it is just off the M8 motorway and there should be ample parking at the venue. You will need to leave the M8 motorway at junction 19 and join on to the westbound Clydesdale Expressway (A814).

There will then be a signpost for SEC East, where you will need to turn left at the upcoming traffic lights and if you wish to access multi-storey parking, take the right lane.

Travelling By Train

There are over 20 direct trains to Glasgow every day from London, while direct trains run from Edinburgh every 15 minutes on a weekday. From Glasgow Central, reaching the SEC is a three-minute train ride to the Exhibition Centre railway station. There are six trains an hour from Glasgow Central and will depart from Platform 17.

Travelling By Bus

The easiest way to reach the venue via bus is to catch the Riversider 100 from George Square in the centre of Glasgow, which would take you directly to the venue. There are two other buses that will take you to within a 2 minute walk of the venue from the Scottish Event Campus, the Stagecoach X19 and McGills 23 service.

Hotels Near the SSE Hydro

Due to its location, there are a number of good options for hotels near the SSE Hydro. For more of a budget option, The Radisson RED Hotel has great reviews and has plenty of top features such as 174 rooms, 3 event and games studios and an excellent rooftop bar.

A bit more pricey is the Dakota Deluxe in Glasgow, which is just 0.9 miles away from the venue. Each room has Sky HD on Smart TVs, as well as a fantastic grill and Champagne Room and cigar terrace.

Glasgow is known as a great party city, therefore it should come as no surprise to see that there are some stellar pubs in the area. The Ben Nevis pub is a great option at only 0.3 miles away from the venue, particularly if you enjoy music and want to try a traditional Scottish whiskey.

The Park Bar has a very good vibe and should be a decent place to build up to the darts with a few drinks. They do traditional pub food so you could even grab a bite to eat before heading to the venue. Drinks will also be available at the venue itself of course.
