Anthony Joshua Vs Jermaine Franklin Tips

British heavyweight Anthony Joshua will return to the ring for the first time since August 2022 this weekend as he tries to get his career back on track when taking on Jermaine Franklin.

The two-time world heavyweight champion is at a crossroads in his career, but he has changed trainer and is now with Derrick James as he tries to plot his path to greatness once again.

Joshua has now lost three of his last five fights, but the Olympic Gold Medallist has not made life easy for himself, taking on the likes of Andy Ruiz Jr, Kubrat Pulev, and Oleksandr Usyk during that time.

For Franklin, Saturday's bout is a free hit, as nobody expects him to win, and he is fighting for the first time since losing to Dillian Whyte on points in November.

Tip 1: Total Rounds - Under 6/5 @ 21/20

Joshua has a point to prove this weekend, and if he goes back to his old ways, he is a handful for anybody at heavyweight.

The 33-year-old has won 24 fights as a professional and he has only failed to stop two of his opponents in those victories - Ruiz Jr and Joseph Parker.

In a bid to dominate his division, Joshua has always tried to tweak his style, but he has often handed his opponents an advantage when trying to box for 12 rounds.

In both his defeats against Usyk, AJ tried to go toe-to-toe with the superior boxer, but he may have had more chance of winning had he fought on the front foot and looked for the knockout.

With the rest of the division waiting to see how he fights this week, Joshua needs a statement win and he will be looking for an early knockout once he has sussed out Franklin at the 02 Arena.

Tip 2: Winning group of rounds - 3-4 @ 23/4

Joshua has the superior reach advantage and he will look to work his way in from range in London, but he cannot afford to be reckless at heavyweight.

Franklin has won 14 of his 21 fights by knockout, but none of those wins have come against anyone of note.

He stepped up in class to face Whyte last year but was beaten on points in a dull fight at Wembley Arena.

Franklin will hope to tire Joshua and take him into the final third of the fight, but once he feels Joshua's power, he will struggle to get to his feet.

Due to teaming up with his new trainer, Joshua will at least want to showcase his skills, but it will not be a shock to see him record a comfortable win inside four rounds.

Before the Usyk fights, Joshua’s only career defeat came against Andy Ruiz Jr in 2019. Ruiz was a major underdog going into the fight and was widely mocked due to his physical condition. However, it was Ruiz’s knockout power and unbelievable speed that gave him the victory against AJ. For their return fight, Ruiz attempted to slim down, and instead of trying to knockout Ruiz, Joshua simply outboxed him to claim an easy victory. In previous fights, only Wladimir Klitschko had given A.J anything to worry about. But the Brit put in what was arguably the greatest round of his career to defeat the legendary boxer in the 11th.
