Coventry Stakes Odds
As racing gets underway at Royal Ascot, it isn’t only the Group 1’s that attract punters' attention. There are also many Group 2 and handicap races which are littered across the racecards and offer lots of betting potential for those looking to browse all of the horse racing markets as the event gets underway. One such event is the Coventry Stakes, which is classed as a Group 2 race, but still attracts many high-class runners who fit into the two-year-old category.
Cowardofthecounty and Camille Pissarro are the two favourites in the Coventry Stakes betting odds. Cowardofthecounty was fantastic in its first race at Curragh in April but again, how many horses have we seen shine in its first race then fall flat on it's first big race.
Meanwhile, Camille Pissarro won on it's debut, lost by a head in its second race to Arizona Blaze, so if there was a race where we'd maybe expect an outsider winner, it could be the Coventry Stakes.

About the Coventry Stakes
The Coventry Stakes is a flat horse race which is scheduled to take place on the first day of Royal Ascot. The second race on the card, following the Queen Anne Stakes, it's a race which is only open to two-year-old horses and is run over a distance of six furlongs. First established in 1890, the race was named after the 9th Earl of Coventry and was given its Group 2 status in 2004 after being on the card for the event since its first-ever race. When it comes to this race, there are two names which are synonymous with this race. These are Sir Gordon Richards and Aidan O'Brien.
The leading jockey to take part in the race is Sir Gordon Richards, who has nine wins to his name between 1932 and 1951. The same number is matched by leading trainer Aidan O'Brien who has also won this race nine times between 1997 and 2019 with like the likes of War Command and Arizona.
In more recent renewals, there have been some familiar names taking a win in the race, with many using it as a career kickstart, with notable winners such as Caravaggio, Canford Cliffs and War Command, and many of these have gone on to have classic success.
