Rangers Betting Odds

The blue side of Glasgow is represented by Rangers Football Club, the club are desperate for silverware. While their single league title in the past 12 years pales in comparison to Celtic's dominance, a haul of three trophies in four years demonstrates their potential to upset the balance of power. However, a sluggish start to the 2024/25 campaign leaves manager Philippe Clement walking a tightrope, with his future potentially hanging in the balance.

Rangers' recent European adventure to the Europa League final in 2021/22, where they were edged out on penalties, highlights their ability to compete on bigger stages. This, coupled with their impressive record in knockout competitions, showcases a team capable of rising to the occasion. However, in most of these games, they play as the underdog, a title that seems to suit the club, across a league campaign, counter-attacking football doesn't win titles and that has been Rangers problem.

Rangers Odds to Win Scottish Premiership

Reversing their fortunes in the Scottish Premiership will be a tall order for Rangers this season. Trailing Celtic by eight points last year, and seven the year prior, the Gers are now a weaker outfit than in those previous campaigns. Departures like John Lundstram, Sam Lammers, and Connor Goldson have left significant gaps in the squad.

While new arrivals such as Clinton Nsiala, Jefte, Mohamed Diomande, and Connor Barron offer potential, much will depend on the performances of creative midfielder Nedim Bajrami. Who may better be known as the man who scored the fastest goal in UEFA European Championship history, against Italy in Summer 2024.

Rangers Odds for Domestic Cups

If Rangers are to lift silverware this season, the domestic cups offer their best opportunity. Since their unbeaten Premiership-winning season in 2020/21, where they were knocked out before the semi-final, Rangers have consistently reached the latter stages. They won the Scottish League Cup in 2023/24 beating Aberdeen in the final and they won the Scottish Cup in 2021/22 beating Hearts in the final.

Celtic remain the team to beat, but if any side is to dethrone them, Rangers are the most likely candidates. However, the 2020/21 season, where St Johnstone secured a remarkable cup double, serves as a reminder that surprises can happen.

Betting on Rangers in Europe

Recent history paints Rangers as Scotland's most successful European representative. Their run to the Europa League final in 2021/22, coupled with their UEFA Cup final appearance in 2007/08, demonstrates their pedigree. However, both occasions ended in heartbreak, with a 2-0 loss to Zenit and a 5-4 penalty shootout defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt respectively.

Rangers qualified for the League phase of the 2024-25 Europa League and it will be interesting to see how the longer, more varied games will benefit or negatively impact Scottish football clubs such as Rangers.

A New Era at Rangers

John Gilligan's appointment as chairman on September 14th, replacing John Bennett, ushered in a new era at Ibrox. However, the pressure is firmly on manager Philippe Clement to deliver results following a subpar start to the season. Whether this new era brings renewed success or further struggles remains to be seen.
