Next Bayern Munich Manager odds
Things haven't gone to plan for Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich, in their peak with Pep Guardiola, the German club lost only 11 games out of 102. Nobody was expecting Thomas Tuchel to replicate Pep but it has taken Tuchel just 44 games to replicate this. Statistically, Tuchel has been Bayern Munich's worst manager in over 15 years, since Louis Van Gaal was at a Bayern Munich side who were arguably in a lull period in the 2000s.
Many expected Bayern Munich to fight on all fronts and win at least three trophies this season after the signing of Harry Kane. However, Bayern have already been eliminated from the DfB Pokal by FC Saarbrucken and beating the DFL Supercup by RB Leipzig in what was a dismal performance on home soil.
At the time of writing, Bayern have just been defeated by VfL Bochum and have had back-to-back defeats in the league for the first time since December 2019. They also have a 1-0 deficit in the UEFA Champions League against Lazio.
With the club eight points off unbeaten Leverkusen in the league and behind in the Champions League, Bayern Munich perhaps should have made a quick decision to sack Tuchel to save their season before a potential quadruple season ends with the club trophyless. Bayern have announced that Thomas Tuchel will leave the club at the end of the season.
Who could replace Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich?
Given Bayern's previous hiring's it could be anyone.
Those looking for football betting markets tend to favour Xabi Alonso, the manager leading Bayer Leverkusen to an iconic season at Bayern's expense. Would he take the Bayern Munich job? It would arguably hurt his legacy if he was to take the role before finishing the job at Leverkusen. So, we can't see him moving to the Allianz Arena anytime soon.
It could be a job that interests Zinedine Zidane - who has been out of a job since leaving Real Madrid where he won 11 trophies in five years, including three Champions Leagues. However, he has gone quiet since leaving that role.
The other names that are linked with the role are two former Manchester United managers. However, only one has any merit in our opinion, Jose Mourinho left Roma after a poor run of form and although fortunes have changed under manager Danielle de Rossi, fixture difficulty has majorly decreased in that period. If Mourinho joined the club on a short-term basis, he may be able to recover the season and bring at least one trophy back to Bayern.
The other former Manchester United manager linked with the role is Ole Gunnar-Solskjaer, which seems like it would be a baffling choice. Ole had a great record with Molde in Sweden but his tenures at Cardiff City and Manchester United left a lot to be desired.
