Bet on Serie A at BetUK

The Italian League has a reputation for being a strong, defensive league which makes betting odds for Serie A tend to flow in a more one-sided manner. With that in mind, betting on Serie A very much depends on the team you are looking to back. Serie A arguably has more ‘big clubs’ than any other country in the world but on the pitch, these teams haven’t lived up to their names in recent years. The two Milan clubs have been flying the flag for Italy in European competitions in recent seasons and have done an excellent job with a Milan derby in the Champions League semi-finals two seasons ago.

Italian teams have also featured in all three UEFA Conference League finals, with AS Roma winning the original competition and Fiorentina finishing as runners-up in the last two seasons. Alongside the last two Europa League finals, this time around AS Roma were the runners-up in 2022/23 and Atalanta were the only team to beat Bayer Leverkusen in 2023/24.

Betting on Serie A title winners

Three different teams have won Serie A over the last three seasons, this is the first time this has happened since 2002. Which means that, historically, the odds to win the Serie A title in 2024/25 favour Inter Milan, AC Milan or Napoli. Napoli are struggling with finances after a horrific season last year, meaning another Milan derby to determine the title. Three of the last four seasons have come down to the battle for Milan and 2024/25 looks to be moving in the same direction.

One team that have improved in recent years after a short spell of poor seasons is Juventus, who finished in third position last season after finishing in 7th the season before. With Thiago Motta in charge of ‘The Old Lady’, their betting odds to win the division has shortened and they sit as second favourites behind Inter Milan.

With the signings of Khéphren Thuram and Douglas Luiz, Juventus could be set for another great season and maybe another title to their name!

Betting on Serie A’s Top Four

The betting options for Serie A’s top four still exist, despite the nation’s coefficient giving them an additional spot in the Champions League as it stands. It seems almost guaranteed that Inter Milan will finish in the top four next season and many are expecting Juventus to be their only rival for the title. Meaning that unless Thiago Motta has a poor start in Turin, they are also going to be high in the betting odds to finish in the top four.

AC Milan have lofty expectations but doubts remain in the division over Paulo Fonseca’s ability to coach at the Serie A level, we think he’ll do well and the signings of Youssouf Fofana, Alvaro Morata and Emerson Royal should back-up that as most of their signings have good experience at the top level. The teams that could finish in that fourth position are almost endless with Bologna and Atalanta claiming Champions League positions last season but the likes of Lazio, Roma, Fiorentina and Napoli consistently fight for the European spots every season! Another one of Italy’s biggest teams has also returned to the division this season after a short spell away, Parma will be looking to avoid relegation this season but could well be in the running for European spots if they start the season well.

Betting on Serie A’s top goalscorer

Typically, the top goalscorers in Serie A tend to end up with around 25-30 goals a season. Which may come as a surprise for those looking to bet on the competition because of its defensive reputation.

Last season, Lautaro Martinez won the award with 24 goals, 8 goals ahead of 2nd placed Dusan Vlahovic of Juventus. 24 goals was the lowest total of the highest goalscorer for almost 10 years. Luca Toni in 2014/15 won the award with 22 goals and no striker has won the award in back-to-back years since 2010! So, the betting odds may favour Lautaro Martinez but history does not.

So, who could rival Martinez this season? The betting odds look favourably on La Liga’s top goalscorer last season Artem Dovbyk who recently signed for AS Roma and if the club perform as well in the upcoming season as they began their campaign under Daniele De Rossi, last season - albeit that was 20 games into the season, they should score a lot of goals.

The worry for Roma is the blip at the end of the last campaign, so if not the Ukrainian, perhaps the Serbian, Dusan Vlahovic could stop Martinez winning the award - Juventus have shored up their midfield and the clinical striker could easily get 20+ goals in a single campaign.

Betting on relegation in Serie A

With the size of some of the teams in the Serie A, it seems unlikely that a large number of teams will be relegated. However, Parma in recent seasons have demonstrated that the size of the club doesn’t matter when it comes to relegation. But if we take the biggest teams out of the equation and look purely at those that have come up from Serie B.

In the last three seasons, the newly promoted sides have fared better in their first season back in Serie A than in the past with just one newly promoted side being relegated in the last three years. This time around, Venezia are deemed as the most likely team to suffer relegation after promotion, similarly to the 2021/22 campaign.
