Watford Betting Odds

Watford betting odds for relegation and promotion are heating up. Some fans think the new manager, Tom Cleverley, will be their saving grace, while other supporters are convinced the Hornets are on a downward trajectory.

Watford clawed their way back to the Premier League in 2021 after finishing second in the Championship. Unfortunately, the Hornets only lasted one season in the league, finishing in 19th place and conceding a shocking 77 goals.

Since being relegated, Watford has put together two very average seasons. They finished 11th in 2022-2023 and then last year slipped further away from promotion, coming 15th. Will this trend continue, or can the Hornets right the ship and return to their 2020-2021 form when they had an incredible defence that conceded just 30 goals, the lowest in the league?

Watford are hoping that their 34-year-old manager, who only retired in 2023, can save the club. Cleverley took over at the end of last season. In his nine games as manager, Watford only lost two games; unfortunately, they only won two games as well. It seems like the former Hornets midfielder player has figured out how to keep the ball out of the net. Now he just needs to sort out things at the other end of the pitch.

Watford Odds to Get Promoted

Watford is no stranger to the EPL. They got promoted in 2015 and stuck around in the Prem until 2020. Then, after just one season in the Championship, they were immediately promoted. Unfortunately, since being relegated in 2022, Watford looks like a different team and has really struggled in their last two Championship seasons. Watford's odds to win the Championship are currently not looking too good.

Despite a run of poor form, there is reason to be optimistic. Watford’s new manager, Cleverley, spent seven years playing at the club before retiring in 2023. He is well-respected by the players and is known for his structured approach to the game. Cleverley has only been in charge for nine games, but during his tenure, he has only suffered two defeats.

Watford’s best chance of getting promoted is via the playoffs, as a top-two finish is likely out of reach. For that to happen, the Hornets drastically need to improve their performance at home. Watford has the 5th worst home record in the league and won one of their last 13 games.

If you are backing Watford promotion odds, then keep an eye on Mileta Rajović. The Dane only started 17 Championship games last season and was still the club’s top goal scorer with 10. The 24-year-old has some serious potential; if he is playing well in 2024-2025, Watford has a real shot at a top-six finish.

Watford Relegation Odds

Most likely, Watford will finish mid-table in 2024-2025, just like they did in their last two seasons in the Championship. However, if they continue to struggle to win at home and their away form takes a hit, they could tumble further down the ladder and end up being relegated.

When backing Watford to be relegated odds, keep a close eye on Watford’s attack. Last season, they only scored 60 goals, which is 1.30 a game. If their goal-per-game average dips a little to 1.20 per match, then there is a decent possibility the Hornets will be playing League One football in 2025-2026!
