Queens Park Rangers Betting Odds
After a poor result last season, QPR betting has suddenly got much more interesting. Will the R’s turn things around and push for promotion, or will their form get even worse, and they’ll be relegated?
Despite being founded in 1886, Queens Park Rangers have only won one major trophy, the League Cup, which they secured on Saturday, 4 March 1967, with a 3-2 win against West Bromwich Albion. Queens Park Rangers odds of winning another major trophy aren’t great!
Since being relegated from the EPL after the 2014-15, things have not gone well for The Hoops. Optimistic fans thought they would bounce back and quickly return to the top flight of English football. However, they’ve only managed to finish in the top 10 of the Championship once and came close to being relegated on two occasions, QPR's odds of getting back to the Prem reflect this recent form.
QPR is managed by Martí Cifuentes, who is trying to instil his attacking style of football into the club. However, Queens Park Rangers has struggled to score goals. Lyndon Dykes and Ilias Chair were the top strikers with seven goals.
At the other end of the pitch, QPR performed a lot better. Last season, QPR had the 7th best defence in the league, and Steve Cook was the standout defender.
Queens Park Rangers Relegation Odds
If you’re a diehard Millwall fan, you might be disappointed to know that, based on QPR relegation odds, the West London club is not expected to be relegated this season. Despite languishing in 18th place last season and displaying one of the worst attacks in the Championship, the Rangers should stay up this season.
The Shepherd’s Bush-based club has an ironclad defence. Last season, they only conceded 58 goals, which is only one more goal than Ipswich Town, which came second in the league.
While QPR’s attack is again expected to be shocking this season, everything hinges on their defence. If they can get another fantastic season out of Steve Cook, then The R’s should remain in the middle of the pack and backing QPR to stay up odds is a safe bet.
However, if their defence becomes a bit shaky and the floodgates open, then QPR could find themselves at the wrong end of the table. Cifuentes must bring his Spanish flair to the club and get some young players into the ageing squad. Otherwise, QPR’s campaign could head south quickly!
Queens Park Rangers Promotion Odds
QPR is a long shot to gain a promotion this season. The West London club will likely languish in the middle of the table. However, if you don’t mind backing an underdog, QPR Promotion Odds are paying 9/1.
QPR scored just 47 goals last season, only three teams in the entire Championship scored fewer goals. If The Hoops are going to make a playoff run, they’ll have to sign a new striker or two. QPR is unlikely to find a 20-goal-a-season striker out of nowhere due to budgetary constraints, but you never know, there are plenty of diamonds in the rough out there that the R’s could pick up on the cheap.
Even if QPR can’t sign any good strikers, let’s hope they can hang onto Chris Willock, who is showing some great potential and seems to have gelled well with Cifuentes’ attacking style of football. The 26-year-old could have a breakout season next year and, in a perfect world, lead QPR to promotion.
