The Hundred Betting Cricket

The Hundred cricket competition is one of the newest competitions in English Cricket, as the Vitality Blast was created in 2003 and is now one of the biggest domestic competitions in England, the Hundred looks to follow that success. The Hundred is a 100-ball cricket tournament involving eight teams from both the mens and womens teams located across major cities in England and Wales, run by the ECB, the first tournament took place in 2021 and was won by Southern Brave in the mens tournament and the Oval Invincibles in the women's tournament, who stopped Southern Brave doing a men & women's teams double. Each team is made up of 15 players with a maximum of four overseas players, following a draft system similar to franchise leagues in the likes of America and Australia.

The Hundred Betting: Birmingham Phoenix

Ground: Edgbaston, Birmingham, West Midlands

Birmingham Phoenix have had a significant start to life as a member of the Hundred. They've finished no less than fourth in both formats of the two years of competition. In 2021, their mens team lost in the final, finishing second, while their womens team finished third, losing in the eliminator to eventual winners, Oval Invincibles. However, in 2022, their team finished fourth in both formats, with both missing out on Net Run rate (NRR).

So, what does this mean for online sports betting, well Birmingham are a team that you can expect to win about 50% of their games and perform reasonably well. However, they have scored two of the biggest scores in the Hundreds first season with the Phoenix scoring 184 against Welsh Fire and 174 against Oval Invincibles. In that same season, they scored the lowest number of runs in a game, scoring just 87 against Manchester Originals.

The Hundred Betting: London Spirit

Ground: Lord's, St John's Wood, Greater London

London Spirit are one of the teams that have been very inconsistent since the creation of the Hundred, in 2021, their Women's team missed out on the eliminator by NRR but their mens team finished bottom of the table. So, going into 2022, you would have expected similar results but in 2022, their teams did a complete U-Turn with their women's team finishing 7th out of eight and their mens team losing out to Manchester Originals in the Eliminator final. So, it's worth waiting until the first few games of the season to judge how London Spirit will perform. They have a weaker batting line-up than most clubs across both teams but are still more than capable of pulling off high scores.

The Hundred Betting: Manchester Originals

Ground: Old Trafford Cricket Ground, Stretford, Greater Manchester

Despite having a number of quality players in their arsenal, Manchester Originals have been distinctively average across the first two seasons of the Hundred, the only exception was the mens team in 2022 where Phil Salt put in some fantastic scores in their battling line up, while from the bowling line-up Tom Helm was striking down teams with precision in a number of games, making them very hard to score runs against. Whether this will continue into the 2023 season, who knows? Will the Originals sit with mid-table mediocrity for both the men and womens team next season?

The Hundred Betting: Northern Superchargers

Ground: Headlingley, Leeds, West Yorkshire

Similar to the previously mentioned Manchester Originals, Northern Superchargers have been one of the most consistently average teams in the competition with both the mens and womens team sitting in 5th or 6th place in both seasons. In the first season, both teams lost four games and won three, while last season they won 50% of their games. However, what separates Northern Superchargers from other teams around them is star batsman, both teams in both seasons have had one very strong batsman who has been relied on to score the most runs, making indivudual player betting the way to go for Northern Superchargers.

The Hundred Betting: Oval Invincibles

Ground: The Oval, Kennington, Greater London

Oval Invincibles are quickly making a name for themselves in the Hundred as they've won both Women's competitions beating Southern Brave in the final in both seasons. In 2022, they won by 5 wickets, with six balls remaining, meanwhile, in 2021, they batted first, scoring 121 and restricting Southern Brave to just 73 runs. However, for the mens game, Oval Invincibles have always narrowly missed out on the eliminator, finishing two points behind in 2022 and one point behind the eliminator spot in 2021.

The Hundred Betting: Southern Brave

After a solid start in 2021 Southern Brave looked like the team to beat as they won the regular season of the Women's division but lost in the final to Oval Invincibles and won the Mens division. Their women's team followed it up by finishing second once again in 2022 but their mens team had a horrific season, finishing 7th, only ahead of Welsh Fire who failed to win a single game. If you're looking to back any team in the women's division, Southern Brave are the most consistent in the group stage, losing just two of 14 games, less than any other team. In regards to the Mens game, we recommend holding out to see how they perform in their opening games before backing them in the betting tips.

The Hundred Betting: Trent Rockets

After an early elimination for the women's team in 2021 but an eliminator knockout for the mens tournament, Trent Rockets were a team to lookout for but few thought they'd match the likes of Southern Brave in 2022. However, the womens team finished third and were once again, knocked out in the eliminator and the mens team, surprised everyone by winning the mens competition. Trent Rockets are expected to perform admirably in 2023 but as we've already seen, the competition is quite unpredictable, so we're backing Trent Rockets to do well but for outright success, we're not quite sure how they'll perform but after improvement for both teams last season.

The Hundred Betting: Welsh Fire

Welsh Fire are a team that many will look to avoid backing in Hundred betting this upcoming season and the rest for that is both teams have finished in the bottom two in both seasons. In 2022, their mens team were the first team to lose all of their games in season, which usually takes longer than two seasons in most competitions. With the bat, they're poor but with their bowling attack, one player to look out for is Jake Ball is who their best player with the ball in hand but as he only gets ten balls at a time and 20 across an entire game, the team will still struggle against bigger teams such as Southern Brave. Welsh Fire are widely expected to finish bottom of both the men's and women's teams tournaments.
